“Summer jobs are temporary, but young people need long-term work. The committee recommended cutting red tape to help them, but the government has only made announcements so far. We are ready to work with them on real changes that help youth get jobs.”
“Mr. Speaker, the issue is not the temporary numbers. The member talks about summer jobs. Summer jobs are temporary, but the jobs that youth are facing issues with are not just the summer jobs. It is more than that, and as the committee has recommended, we need to cut red tape. The member just confirmed that they have announced a program that would cut the red tape. It is nothing but announcements yet, so we have to see. We are willing to work, along with the party opposite, to make sure of that. Any positive changes to the current program that can help young people get jobs are welcome.”
