“Children use electronics well, but they do not know the harm it can do to their mental health. Adults need to protect them. The government should give parents the information they need to protect their children, instead of making choices for them.”

Mr. Speaker, it is the new reality. Four-, six-, seven- or eight-year-old children are sometimes more adept with electronics than adults. Sometimes parents and grandparents do not know how to help young people. It is not about controlling them. It is about helping them. The child does not know that he or she is going down a road that is going to hurt them in the long run, that will put their mental health at risk. It is up to us to take responsibility for them. How do we do that? We do it by equipping parents, by having informed parents, by keeping parents in the equation, not taking parents out of the equation by saying that the government will make the decisions. We see that here all the time. The Liberals rise in the House and say how proud they are to intervene in everything and that more and more people need Liberal subsidies to get by. We want people to be free to make their own choices. It is important for parents to have access to information so they can make the right decisions for their children.
