“We must protect children online and make tech companies responsible for keeping them safe. I want to know how the member explains his position to parents who have lost children to online harm.”
“Madam Speaker, I know the Scarborough area well. I would ask the member how he would explain that to Amanda Todd’s mother. Amanda Todd’s mother right now is grieving the loss of her daughter. We could protect those children, but we have a responsibility as parliamentarians and as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, mothers and fathers to work to ensure that these tech companies become just as accountable as parents if we want the future of this country to continue to be prosperous.”
