“Mr. Speaker, I wholeheartedly agree that we absolutely want to keep our children safe. The whole principle of the bill is keeping our children safe on the platforms they are continually using. Every single day, this is where they gather. It is where they play. We need to ensure that tech companies are held accountable. We also agree that this legislation needs to have real teeth in it, absolutely. One of the things, though, that I have received emails about is the commission’s powers and accountability. These are the things we are going to need to discuss in committee moving forward.”
