“This bill gives decision-making power to unelected officials instead of Parliament. Elected members are the ones who answer to Canadians and parents. Parliament should make these decisions, not regulators.”
“Mr. Speaker, this is one of the alarming features of the government. It tends to trust unelected bureaucrats, and its members tend to defend those decisions. They tend to forget that they are elected by the people. They are elected by Canadians to work for Canadians, to listen to Canadians, to express the concerns of Canadians and, in this case, to listen to parents and protect the interests of children. Parliament is right to be able to ask those questions rather than ceding our decision-making authority to unelected regulators that these Liberals love to defend.”
