“Madam Speaker, it is true that we have worked together productively at the HUMA committee on a number of issues that have a real impact on people’s lives. In my view, the right approach is to establish an independent Canadian commission with both the power to legislate on such cases and the expertise to identify the best way to protect our children and secure the necessary commitments from the platforms. However, if the member has any ideas to put forward to strengthen this aspect, we are ready to listen to them and consider them.”
