Mr. Speaker, I recently had the pleasure of visiting the skilled trades fair in Gatineau, where I was able to see the rich, diverse range of trades taught in our region. Having been a trades instructor myself, I know how important it is to pass on know-how and give young people the skills they need to build their future. Vocational training is more than just an educational path. It is a driver of economic development and prosperity for our regions and for Canada. Our businesses and industries need skilled, competent and passionate workers. Building Canada strong also means recognizing the value of skilled trades and investing in those who practise them. Today, I would like to tip my hat to the teachers, training centres and students who are helping to shape our future, because Canada’s strength lies first and foremost in the talent and expertise of Canadians.
