“Mr. Speaker, I want to take a moment today to pay tribute to two outstanding people, my mother and my father. Together, they raised seven children and welcomed 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They worked hard their whole lives on our family dairy farm, while also taking care of many acres of woodlot and a maple grove. Despite all the work they had to do, they still always found time to get involved in their community. My mother was a true pioneer for women. She served for over 26 years on the board of directors of an insurance company in the 1980s and 1990s, where she was the only woman. Meanwhile, my father spent over 20 years of his life serving as a municipal councillor. They had seven children, a dairy farm and a maple grove, and they still found time to get involved in their community. Thank you Mom and Dad for your sacrifices and love. Most of all, thank you for helping me to become the man I am today. I love you.”
