“The committee on veterans affairs is working to help veterans find civilian jobs. Access to jobs is the main problem. The government is taking a step back by ignoring veterans who want to keep working with the Commissionaires.”

Madam Speaker, I want to thank my colleague. I enjoy serving with him on the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. He is absolutely right. The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs is looking for ways to improve veterans’ employability and the transferability and recognition of their skills as they transition to the civilian workforce. The main issue is access to employment opportunities. Right now, it seems as though the government is taking a step back. It is turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to veterans who are telling us that they need this historic partnership with the Commissionaires to continue. We do not understand that inconsistency.
