“I want the government to support our motion and reverse this contract. It should put Canadian workers first and respect our veterans, like the Corps of Commissionaires who provide important jobs in Saskatchewan.”
“Mr. Speaker, with today’s opposition motion, we simply want to put Canada first in procurement. We want to honour our veterans. The Corps of Commissionaires in my province of Saskatchewan has been around for decades. I want to salute Lorne Gelowitz, the CEO of northern Saskatchewan, and Dean Rae, the CEO of south Saskatchewan. These are important employment opportunities for Canadians. In 10 days, Saskatoon will once again host the largest indoor Remembrance Day service in the country. We will have between 7,000 and 10,000 people at 11 o’clock at SaskTel Centre. The Corps of Commissionaires is a vital reason for this. I just want to say this to the member for Winnipeg North: Let us respect our veterans and reverse this contract.”
