“Our government is making record investments in our military and veterans. We are spending billions on equipment, housing, recruitment, pay raises, and benefits. I want the member opposite to agree that this is historic support.”
“Mr. Speaker, as we head into Remembrance Day, I think it is important to put on the record the actual investments this government has made into Canada’s military and veterans, including increases to defence investment and modernization, which was $9 billion just this year, reaching NATO’s 2% of GDP target; historic pay increases for military personnel, including a 20% increase for regular forces privates; a $2.6-billion investment into recruitment and retention, reaching record levels of recruitment in the armed forces; $3.7 billion towards military housing and infrastructure; and an over $200-million investment committed to services and benefits. These are historic investments in Canadians’ military and historic investments to support veterans. Would the member opposite agree?”
