“The government gave a contract to an American company instead of a Canadian veterans group that has been here since 1945. The American company only got it on a technicality by using a Canadian address. I want the member to talk about this technicality and what buying Canadian really means.”
“Mr. Speaker, we do owe our veterans a debt of gratitude that probably we can never repay. However, we can recognize it in terms of what the federal government has done through the contract that has been issued through a technicality to an American company. The people of Canada have to realize that the only reason this contract was given was that an American company gave a Canadian address but was not located in Canada like the Veterans Association that has been here since 1945. Can the member talk about that technicality, and what it means to buy Canadian?”
