“Our government doubled defence spending to 2% of Canada's GDP in six months, and we gave the military overdue pay raises. The previous government spent far less for ten years. The member should apologize to our troops for giving misleading information about our record.”

Madam Speaker, I am sure members would recognize the irony of that, coming from someone who used to be the parliamentary secretary for defence when the government spent 1% of Canada’s GDP toward the Canadian Forces. Within six months, this Prime Minister and this government brought it to 2% of Canada’s GDP. He can talk to members of the Canadian Forces who have received increases in pay, which were long overdue. This government has done so much more in the first 18 months than Stephen Harper ever dreamed of in the 10 years he was in government. My question to the member is, because he is so focused on this, will he apologize to members of the CAF for what some might suggest is somewhat misleading information, when this government has provided the supports for CAF that were unheard of in the last 20 years?
