“The government collected $130 billion more in taxes in 2025 than in 2020, and Canadians got nothing for it. I want my colleague to share what the government could do instead of raising taxes.”

Mr. Speaker, I appreciated my colleague’s speech. Further to the last question, I will say that the government brought in $130 billion more in tax revenue in 2025 than it did in 2020. When I look at what Canadians got for that $130 billion in extra taxes being taken in, the answer is “nothing”. There is absolutely nothing that Canadians got any benefit from other than paying higher taxes. I am wondering if my colleague could think of something that the government could be doing differently rather than taxing Canadians to the tune of an extra $130 billion.
