“This bill does not do enough for military housing. Recruits need homes, but we have not built new barracks in years, and the old ones are mouldy and broken. We should treat people who serve our country better.”
Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, the bill that is before us is about the military. I can tell the House that not only are regular people, civilians, looking for housing but that the people joining the military are also looking. The military has not built new barracks in years, and the barracks it does have are condemned. A recruit coming in is sent into a room, if there are even any left, that is mouldy, with insufficient electricity and no connectivity. That is no way to treat someone who is going to put their life on the line for their country.
