“The big tax deduction in the budget is a good step, but it mostly helps bring foreign money into Canada. We should focus instead on helping existing Canadian businesses and supply chains compete.”

Mr. Speaker, the member from Hamilton asked a good-faith question. If, in fact, there is a mega deduction in the upcoming budget, I believe that is generally a step in the right direction. My criticism of that policy would be that it would apply more to the attraction of foreign capital into Canada. Where I believe we need to focus is on allowing existing Canadian businesses in the existing Canadian supply chains to address the competitiveness issues we are facing there.
