“Young people need to believe they can own a home. Owning a home builds equity and gives people security when they retire, instead of paying someone else's mortgage.”
“Mr. Speaker, my colleague has made valuable contributions in a very short time in the chamber. We need to give young people hope in this country. They need to think that home ownership is attainable. It should not be the case that young Canadians wake up every day thinking that this dream is out of reach for them. The biggest number of young people possible should believe it is possible to own their own home. It provides retirement security. It builds equity. Unlike as a renter, it means they are not paying someone else’s mortgage but paying themselves first.”
