“The government's debt numbers are misleading because they count public pension money against what Ottawa owes. That pension money belongs to workers and retirees, not the government. This budget should focus on making life more affordable for Canadians.”

Mr. Speaker, being the tallest in a short room is not much of a plan. The measure that the Liberals like to quote is net debt, which counts the assets in our pension plan against what Ottawa owes. Those pension plans belong to Canadian workers and retirees and not to the government. This budget needs to focus on the concerns we are hearing from Canadians, and those are about making life affordable.
