“My father was ill for a long time, which changed how I see this issue. Why have views on medical assistance in dying changed so much over the last five years? I want to know what the member thinks caused this change, and what he thinks about the upcoming votes.”

Madam Speaker, I was in the House five years ago, but I was not involved in the entire process. My father was ill for many years. Experiencing something like that first‑hand makes someone see things differently. I am not telling this story just so I can say that this is what I went through, so here is how it should be. However, why has there been such a big shift in five years? What does my colleague think happened, and what does he make of the direction that we appear to be taking in the votes ahead?
