“A parliamentary committee already showed that we must improve end-of-life care. The provinces provide this care. The federal government must give them more money to do it instead of adding rules without the resources to follow them.”
“Madam Speaker, I want to remind my colleague that this was the mandate of the first special joint committee, which submitted a highly detailed report on the matter, along with a host of recommendations confirming the need to strengthen palliative care. I urge my colleague to persuade the Minister of Finance to transfer more money to the provinces, which deliver end-of-life care, so they can finally do their work properly. The federal government must co-operate. It cannot introduce exemptions or generalized restrictions without providing the resources to implement them.”
