“Most people who contacted me do not want this assisted dying bill to pass. We have not talked enough about advance requests. There are not enough safeguards to protect people who do not want it, are not ready, or change their minds.”
Official Hansard

Madam Speaker, the overwhelming majority of people who have contacted me do not want MAID to go forward. Quite frankly, the discussion on advance requests has really not been fully discussed. In fact, it has not been discussed at all. Very few people have raised the issue of advance requests and the whole issue of safeguards has never been put into place. That is what their concern is, that the safeguards will not be there for those who are not ready, do not want it or want to change their mind, are in place.
