“The member for Winnipeg North now says he wants to stop expanding medically assisted dying to people with mental illness. But he has voted three times to allow it. Why did he change his mind?”
“Madam Speaker, I am glad to see my colleague from Winnipeg North supporting, in principle, anyway, a halt to the forthcoming expansion of MAID for people with mental illness. However, the member has voted three times against stopping that expansion. He voted for adding mental illness to the MAID regime in Bill C-7. He voted against Bill C-314 in the previous Parliament, and a couple of weeks ago, he voted against Bill C-218. To what do we attribute the change of heart?”
