“Provinces and territories have a key role here, and Quebec is in the best position to handle it. The federal government wants to work with them and support their rules. I trust the provinces and territories to make the laws and rules needed to keep everyone safe.”
“Madam Speaker, I really appreciate the member’s question because it amplifies the importance of recognizing that the provinces and territories play an absolutely critical role. The province of Quebec is the one in the best position. The minister and the Government of Canada are very open to working with provinces and territories if there are ways we can be supportive in those guardrails. We are obviously very concerned in that regard. I have faith and confidence in our provinces and territories to bring in the legislation and the regulations necessary to provide that high sense of comfort for all.”
