“This bill lets people with illnesses like Alzheimer's choose their end-of-life care while they can still make that decision. People living with these illnesses told us they want that choice. What does the member say to them?”
“Mr. Speaker, through Bill C-41, we are establishing a framework that would allow people living with conditions such as Alzheimer’s to make a free and informed decision about their end-of-life care while they are still capable of doing so. This decision was not taken lightly. We heard deeply moving testimony from many individuals living with these conditions, and they expressed a desire to be able to make that choice while they still have capacity. I would like to ask my colleague this: What does he say to those individuals who came forward to give testimony and who are asking for the right to make that choice?”
