I tried, to the best of my ability, to follow her example and continue to push it ahead. Indeed, the bill was nearly finished when I was in the post. Things have changed since then. The good news is that the new Minister of Health is very committed to moving it forward, and rightly so. The provinces and territories have consistently emphasized the importance of working with the Canadian government because big tech operates across several provinces at once. It is easier, as a country, with the provinces and the Canadian government working together, to put enough pressure on those companies to ensure they do not block the data that is important to patients.”
