“We need strong rural communities to build a strong Canada. Our government is spending $2 million on Républik Nature in my riding to update its visitor centre and buy a new year-round chairlift. This will help local tourism and the economy.”

Mr. Speaker, to build Canada strong, we need strong rural communities, and that requires modern, sustainable infrastructure tailored to the needs of local residents. Earlier this year, we launched the build communities strong fund, which enables us to invest in essential community infrastructure across the country, including in Madawaska—Restigouche. Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of announcing a $2-million investment in Républik Nature to modernize its visitor centre and purchase a new all-season chairlift. These improvements will help ensure safe and reliable winter operations while supporting the expansion of summer activities, such as mountain biking. The project will generate meaningful benefits for tourism, the economy and the community. I would also like to recognize the leadership and dedication of the entire Républik Nature team, as well as its volunteers, whose efforts have made Mont Farlagne a key asset for the vitality and quality of life in the Madawaska region.
