“The government is adding far more debt than the budget shows. It is spending an extra $154 billion this year alone, and nearly $750 billion over the next five years. Future generations will have to pay this back. I want my colleague to share his thoughts on this debt burden.”
“Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for the great concern he shows for Quebeckers, as well as Canadians. I wonder if he could share some of his thoughts on this incredibly massive amount of added debt for Canadians. The budget shows over $60 billion, but the reality is the cash out the door for this year is going to be about $154 billion. About $90 billion of that money is actually hidden as capital. We will have an extra $154 billion just this year and almost three quarters of a trillion dollars added over the next five years. What does my colleague think it is going to do to his kids, his grandkids and future generations of Quebeckers and Canadians as they have to pay this back?”
