“The Liberals voted down our tax credit, which was clear, well planned, and backed by industry. Now they want to spend 400 million dollars without explaining what it will do. The government is trying to control the economy and hand out money to its friends instead of letting businesses follow fair rules.”
“Mr. Speaker, I was going to ask the member that question earlier today, because just two days ago the Liberals voted down the actual credit that we talked about here, and it was well costed, it was supported by industry and it was actually very clear about what it was doing. This shift is a bit of a mirage. The budget just tossed $400 million out there, but it does not explain exactly what they are going to do. The problem, as with all the things the government is doing at this point in time, is that the government is going to pick and choose who its friends are. That is who is going to get the projects of national interest. Someone is going to have to have friends in the Prime Minister’s Office. As I said in my speech, it has become a much more centrally controlled economy, as opposed to a private sector-driven economy that follows the rules.”
