Maloney presses the government on returning more than 20,000 Ukrainian children taken during Russia’s invasion, and on linking Canada’s electricity grids east to west so families and businesses can decarbonize affordably. He frames his questions around Canada’s character, as when he said the country is ‘known for pairing strength with compassion.’ He also tables committee reports on justice legislation.Written by AI from their statements. Foreign Affairs

“Russia has taken more than 20,000 Ukrainian children from their homes. I want the minister to explain how Canada is helping to bring them back and hold Russia accountable.”
Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, since Russia began its brutal invasion in 2022, more than 20,000 Ukrainian children have been unlawfully deported or forcibly transferred. These children must be brought home. Last week, in Toronto, I was pleased to join representatives from around the world who came together to advance that goal. Canada has long been known for pairing strength with compassion. Can the minister explain how Canada is leading international efforts to bring these children home, reunite families and hold those responsible to account?

Natural Resources

“We promised to connect Canada's power grids from east to west. I want the minister to explain how we will build this, grow clean power, and keep it reliable and affordable for families and businesses.”
Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, during the last election, we committed to connecting Canada’s electricity grids from east to west rather than from north to south. Can the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources share with the House how we are going to build those interconnections, grow Canada’s clean electricity capacity and ensure families and businesses can decarbonize affordably and reliably?

Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the fourth report of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, in relation to Bill C-16, an act to amend certain acts in relation to criminal and correctional matters regarding child protection, gender-based violence, delays and other measures. The committee has studied the bill and has decided to report the bill back to the House with amendments.
