Mr. Speaker, I am going to share a brief story, even though my time is limited. This summer, while visiting organizations participating in the Canada summer jobs program, I met a young man from New Brunswick who was working in Longueuil. I asked him whether he had come to Quebec because job opportunities were scarce in New Brunswick. He replied that this was not the case, that he was simply there to discover Quebec and that he loved gaining experience in other parts of the country. Mr. Speaker, the question I would like to put to my colleague, for whom I have great respect and whose work I sincerely appreciate—I will not deny that—is the following: Does my colleague believe that mobility can contribute to youth employment?

Mr. Speaker, I am also from Quebec, and I also serve on the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities with my colleague, who, I have to admit, does an outstanding job. I have never witnessed the federal government attempting to interfere in matters that fall under Quebec’s jurisdiction. I would like to ask my colleague whether she thinks she is protecting Quebec’s jurisdictions by voting against everything here in Ottawa. I think that Quebeckers deserve better than political games. Every time there is a vote on something that benefits Quebec, they vote against it.

Mr. Speaker, Les Cuisiniers différents is a noteworthy organization doing remarkable work in Longueuil—Saint‑Hubert under the leadership of executive director Chantal Pagé. Thanks in part to Canada’s national school food program, Les Cuisiniers différents provides meals to students while advancing its mission to promote the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities had the privilege of hearing Ms. Pagé share her experience and expertise regarding these programs and their tangible impact on young people. I am always very proud to see an organization from Longueuil—Saint‑Hubert contribute to the discussions shaping public policy. I want to congratulate everyone involved with Les Cuisiniers différents on their commitment and their invaluable contribution to our community, and I am grateful to Ms. Pagé.

The question I have for my colleague is this: Does my colleague truly believe in diversifying our markets in order to strengthen our trade ties with other countries, our allies, to be specific? Interestingly, when I was in Halifax, I saw that bus systems are now being electrified. Mr. Speaker, I serve on the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration. Sometimes I see what my Conservative colleagues are doing at committee. It is confusing. They say things that really undermine social cohesion. Sometimes, I feel like I am not even in Canada, because Canada is all about freedom of expression. My colleague from the Bloc Québécois just asked me whether I support freedom of religion. Personally, I support all forms of freedom, provided it respects everyone and does not offend anyone, and provided it does not undermine social cohesion.
