“Mr. Speaker, I have a question for the Prime Minister. Just over 10 days ago, we learned that Canada was the only country with back-to-back shrinking economies in two quarters, the definition of a recession. Today we got even worse news from the Governor of the Bank of Canada, who said: the Canadian economy has remained soft and inflation has increased.... Economic weakness combined with rising inflation is a dilemma He used the word “weak” nine times to describe the Prime Minister’s economy. That translates into lost jobs, lost homes and bigger lineups at food banks. Will the Prime Minister stand today and reverse the Liberal policies that caused this recession?”

“Canada is in a recession. The economy is weak, and prices are rising. Will the Prime Minister change the policies that caused this?”

“Mr. Speaker, we just heard the bad news that Canada is the only country with two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. That is the definition of a recession. Again today, we had bad news from the Governor of the Bank of Canada, who said that “the Canadian economy has remained soft and inflation has increased”. He went on to say, “Economic weakness combined with rising inflation is a dilemma” and that the economy was “weak”, a word he used nine times. Will the Prime Minister reverse the Liberal policies that caused this recession?”

“Canadians are falling behind on their bills, and bankruptcies are at a 15-year high. I want the Prime Minister to cancel the costly policies causing this.”

“Mr. Speaker, why can the Prime Minister not even defend his economic record? Perhaps it is because Equifax Canada also reported today that the national 60-plus-day delinquency rate for financial trades has risen by 11%. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the bankruptcy rate is higher than it has been in 15 years. Not only are we the only G20 country in a recession, but Canadians are declaring bankruptcy. Will the Prime Minister reverse the costly Liberal policies that are causing these bankruptcies?”

“The Minister of Finance is saying things that are not true about our economic growth. Under the Prime Minister, Canada is in last place in the G7, bankrupt, and in a recession. The number of new companies has dropped by 39%. The government needs to get out of the way.”

“Mr. Speaker, apparently, he does not believe in the Prime Minister’s ability to answer questions. The Minister of Finance has spent the last 10 years announcing the worst growth results. Now he is telling falsehoods. He says that Canada’s growth puts it in second place. Under this Prime Minister, Canada is in last place. It is the only G7 or G20 country that is bankrupt. Today, Equifax Canada reported a 39% drop in the number of new companies. When is the government going to get out of the way and end this recession?”

“More Canadians are going broke and filing for bankruptcy. I blame the government's policies for this recession. I want the Liberals to stop their costly deficit spending.”

“Mr. Speaker, apparently they do not believe in their Prime Minister’s ability to answer questions and defend his own economic record. We believe Canadians could do a lot of things, too, if the government would just get out of the way. Unfortunately, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy found new evidence that the Liberal recession, the only recession in the G20, is affecting Canadians. There has been an 8% increase in consumer insolvencies and a 10% increase in bankruptcies. This Liberal government’s policies are forcing Canadians into bankruptcy. Will the Liberals reverse the costly deficit policies that caused this recession?”

“This train project will take 15 years to start, but its executives already got millions in bonuses. It will cost families thousands of dollars. Why does the government take workers' tax money to give it to their friends?”

“Mr. Speaker, did he say 15 years? This thing will not even be under construction for 15 years. In the meantime, Liberal insiders and sleazebags will be stuffing their pockets with the tax dollars of Canadian electricians. Already, 13 vice-presidents have received $2.3 million in bonuses for a train that will not even be under construction for over a decade. If it ever comes under construction, it will cost $8,000 a family. Why does he always plunder the pockets of workers to help the Liberal insider elites?”

“Canada is in a recession because of this government's policies, and hard-working people can no longer afford to live on their own. I want the Prime Minister to change his economic policies.”

Today, Equifax said that “Canadian entrepreneurship is on the decline and business payment challenges continued to build as more companies fell behind on [their] payments”. A third fewer small businesses launched in the last 24 months. Current businesses are going bankrupt. New ones are not launching. Will he reverse course before more go bankrupt?”

There is a 32% increase in mortgage delinquencies, and people who cannot make their monthly payments risk losing their homes. Will the Prime Minister stand up in the House of Commons and at least acknowledge that he created this recession so that he can tell us how he is going to reverse the policies so that we can get out of it?”
