Mr. Speaker, it has been a very busy few weeks in B.C. with both municipal and provincial elections. I want to take a moment to congratulate all newly elected and returning MLAs and mayors, as well as all city councillors and school board trustees elected across New Westminster—Burnaby—Maillardville. First, in New Westminster, I congratulate mayor-elect Daniel Fontaine, who will be sworn in today, as well as returning MLA Jennifer Whiteside. I also want to recognize Mayor Patrick Johnstone for his 16 years of service to the city of New Westminster. In Burnaby, I congratulate Mayor Mike Hurley and returning MLA Raj Chouhan. In Coquitlam, I congratulate newly elected mayor Craig Hodge and MLA Matt Liang. I want to thank MLA Jennifer Blatherwick for her service to Maillardville. Lastly, I want to congratulate Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson on his decisive victory. These elections bring new ideas and perspectives to our communities. I look forward to working together with all on shared priorities like affordability, infrastructure, education, health care and public safety. Congratulations.
