“Mr. Speaker, job one for the budget is very simple: save Canadians money. It needs to save Canadians money on their groceries, save Canadians money at the pump and save them money on the materials that go into building homes. The fastest way to save Canadians money is to get rid of all taxes on gas, get rid of the so-called fuel standard tax and the GST on gas and diesel, and get rid of the excise tax until Canada Day. Will the Prime Minister accept our idea to save Canadians money by axing taxes on gas?”

Mr. Speaker, I will say it once again, because it is so astonishing. The member opposite represents the second-largest canola-producing riding in Alberta, has a canola crusher in his riding and is right adjacent to Imperial Oil’s Strathcona refinery, which actually produces biodiesel supported by the clean fuel regulations. This is good for canola farmers across our country. It is good for his own constituents, and I would hope that he would stand up with them.
