Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Mr. Speaker, let me address the member’s comments in regard to chaplains. I have mentioned before that I served in the Canadian Forces. I have been here since 2010, and I can honestly say that I have never been approached by a chaplain raising the issue that the member has raised. I have never have been approached by anyone from Manitoba, or anywhere period. If the member is aware of any chaplains or indigenous leaders who are genuinely concerned about what can take place at armouries or gravesites, I would be more than happy to have that discussion personally with them. I have attended events. I have always seen respectful prayer.”

Mr. Speaker, I would tell the member to reach out to the Interfaith Committee on Canadian Military Chaplaincy. This organization has a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Canada that it is to have annual meetings with the Minister of National Defence. It has not had a single meeting since the Liberal government took power in 2015. The member says that he has not heard from any chaplains, but it is because the Liberals are refusing to meet with chaplains. It is ridiculous.
