Replying to Pierre Paul-Hus (Conservative)
“Mr. Speaker, the Liberals’ mismanagement is undermining Canada’s security. In her latest report, the Auditor General found that a significant portion of the Department of National Defence’s ammunition inventory data is unreliable, with an average error rate of 13%. Worse still, it takes an average of 19 months between the time a contract is signed and when the goods are delivered. Will the Liberals support our call for the Auditor General to appear before the Standing Committee on National Defence without delay and provide a full account of the situation?”

Mr. Speaker, we would like to thank the Office of the Auditor General for its work. We are carefully reviewing the findings and accept all of its recommendations. Ammunition is a critical component of Canada’s military readiness. That is why we have invested $1.4 billion to expand Canada’s domestic ammunition production capacity and support Canadian industry. New manufacturing facilities in Ontario and Quebec are increasing our production capacity while creating good jobs here at home.
