Replying to Patrick Bonin (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, this budget is a continuation of the betrayal on climate action. After rolling out the red carpet for oil and gas companies and pipelines, the government continues to subsidize oil and gas. It is weakening industrial carbon pricing. It is weakening regulations on clean electricity. It is removing the zero-emissions mandate for electric vehicles. It is freezing emissions mandates for light-duty vehicles. There is no money for public transit or for climate adaptation. Can the government explain to us why it is sacrificing our children’s future and the Paris agreement, all for the sake of the oil and gas companies?”

Mr. Speaker, I know there are several pages in the budget, but I think my colleague missed a few. Let us talk about heat pumps instead. A historic investment will help millions of people across the country use electricity. Let us talk about charging stations. I am sure he has not gotten to that part yet. There is going to be some good news about charging stations. Let us talk about our climate plan, which will transform growth across the country. There is a lot of good news in this budget, which the member has not had a chance to see yet, but we will help him out.
