“Our plan makes sense. We are spending $1.5 billion to help industries hurt by the trade war, building infrastructure, and training 100,000 young people in the trades. We are doing this while lowering the deficit, and the opposition should stop putting Canadians down for renting or using social programs.”
“Mr. Speaker, I understand that it is hard for them to come up with a plan that makes sense. That is exactly what we are proposing: a plan that makes sense. I repeat, we have announced $1.5 billion to help the industries most affected by the trade war. We are investing in our infrastructure to build the Canada of tomorrow. We are going to train 100,000 youths in specialized trades to put them at the centre of the major projects that we are going to build. We are doing all this while reducing the deficit, which according to the economic statement is down from $78 million to $67 million. I will say this in English, because I do not have the right words in French. I am so tired of hearing about the social programs as if they are handouts, and of hearing about people who need to rent apartments as if “Why are you guys building apartments? People want to own their home.” Through the Chair, please stop putting Canadians down.”
