Dominic LeBlanc Liberal
“The member from the Bloc Québécois is not describing our decisions accurately. This bill is meant to help good projects get built faster, in a careful and responsible way. Moving faster does not mean we will lower environmental standards or ignore our duties to First Nations. We will do things the right way.”
“Mr. Speaker, I understand that our colleague from the Bloc Québécois wishes to characterize a series of decisions in a way that is not entirely accurate, but as we have said many times in the House, the bill before Parliament is specifically intended to expedite, in a responsible and rigorous manner, projects that are in the country’s economic and social interest. Just because we are moving faster does not mean we are not meeting our environmental standards or fulfilling our obligations to first nations. On the contrary, we are going to do things the right way.”
