“People in my riding and in my family are worried about what is happening on social media. Technology used to change slowly, but social media is moving alarmingly fast.”
“Madam Speaker, yes, that is absolutely the case in my riding. Closer to home, in my family, I have three young people who are parents, and they tell me all the time that what is happening on social media today is very worrisome. In my grandmother’s day, as I was saying, progress took a long time. We went from horse-drawn carriages to the telephone, then to radio, television, and sending a man to the moon. All of these things took a long time. However, today, social media is advancing alarmingly quickly.”
