“Prices went up 4.7% in Newfoundland and Labrador, fuel went up almost 79%, and travel costs went up over 11%. How can the Prime Minister say life is more affordable now than it has been in ten years?”
“Madam Speaker, most recently, according to Statistics Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador’s inflation rate was 4.7%, compared with 3.1% nationally. Fuel prices increased 78.6% in one year, and transportation costs increased by 11.6%. I am curious. How does the member square those statistics with the Prime Minister’s claim that affordability is the best that it has been in a decade?”
