“The Prime Minister says housing gets more affordable every month. But Statistics Canada says rent in Newfoundland and Labrador went up nine percent. I want the member to explain this.”
“Mr. Speaker, the member opposite made reference to housing and housing affordability. In fact, the Prime Minister has told Canadians that housing affordability has improved every single month since his government has been in office. I am just wondering how the member opposite squares that with a recent report released by Statistics Canada. In Newfoundland and Labrador, there has been a 9% increase in the average rent cost in our province. What is the member’s response to that and to the Prime Minister’s claim that affordability has gotten better every single month?”
