“I want to know how this bill protects patient data. How will we make sure patients get to choose if their information is shared, and how will that data be kept safe?”
“Mr. Speaker, one thing in particular the member opposite said that I would like to concentrate on is that we have to look at this through the lens of the patient. I wholeheartedly agree with that, and the lens I am going to look through is data security. If this is implemented across Canada in partnership of course with the provinces, how would we ensure that, first, it would still be the patient who would decide whether the data is going to be transferred, and, second, how would that data be protected?”
