Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the 55th anniversary of Boeing Winnipeg, located in my riding of Winnipeg West. Established in 1971 with just 57 employees building Boeing 747 components, Boeing Winnipeg has grown through five major expansions into Canada’s largest aerospace composite manufacturing facility. Today, nearly 1,500 skilled workers operate across its 700,000 square foot facility, producing critical components for Boeing commercial aircraft, including the 787 Dreamliner, as well as the P-8 Poseidon, Canada’s next multi-mission aircraft. With an extensive local supplier network and a recent $36-million investment supporting research, development and robotics, alongside its contributions to STEM education and veterans’ opportunities, Boeing Winnipeg remains an important anchor of Manitoba’s aerospace sector. Please join me in congratulating Boeing Winnipeg and, most importantly, its dedicated workforce, on 55 years of innovation, excellence and contributions to our community and economy.
