“The government needs to explain how it will protect our data under this bill. We must make sure our personal information is safe from hackers and stays protected by Canadian laws instead of foreign laws.”
Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, it is extremely important that we protect data as we move forward with this legislation. It is going to be up to the government to answer the question of how data would be protected and what regulations it would put in place. It is the number one thing we need to focus on to make sure that our data is secure so that someone cannot just hack in and get access to our most critical information, our personal critical information, and so that our data remains sovereign and falls under Canadian law, not under a foreign jurisdiction or a foreign country’s law.
