Democratic Institutions

Question period turned to reports of foreign interference targeting Alberta, with the NDP asking what the government is doing about reports that foreign actors are working with Alberta separatist movements and targeting Albertans’ personal data. The Liberal minister responding said she shared the concerns and urged Albertans to vote in the October 19 referendum to stay in Canada. The rest of the exchanges were procedural: Conservative members sought unanimous consent to table access-to-information records and the Prime Minister’s ethics disclosure, and were refused, and the Green member objected to heckling during the question.Written by AI from the debate. Mr. Speaker, I, too, am deeply disturbed by this reporting and I am concerned about the future of democracy as well. Alberta’s future belongs to Albertans, and so to Albertans watching, that is why it is so important to make our voices heard, to vote on October 19 and to vote decisively to remain in Canada.
