Rosemarie Falk, Battlefords—Lloydminster—Meadow Lake
“A recent government decision stops local counsellors in Lloydminster from serving Indigenous patients because of where their clinic is located. Many of these patients are residential and day school survivors who need this care. I want the minister to fix this rule so these patients can keep seeing their counsellors in their own city.”
“Mr. Speaker, a recent government decision under the non-insured health benefits program is limiting access to mental health services in Lloydminster, Canada’s only border city. Councillors have been told they can no longer serve indigenous patients because of where their clinic is located in the city and their provincial registration. For patients, many of whom are residential and day school survivors, losing an established therapeutic relationship is deeply disruptive. Will the minister cut this red tape to ensure that indigenous patients can continue to access the care they need in the city where they live?”
