“Laws about health and the environment should not be studied only by the finance committee. Health and environment committees should study them too, so experts can testify. I am asking my colleague if she agrees.”
“Mr. Speaker, I felt that it was really rather unfair for my hon. colleague from University—Rosedale, as someone with such a distinguished medical career, to suddenly find herself on the finance committee with Bill C-30 barrelling through, which eroded the Pest Control Products Act in ways that were not amended in the bill. I do appreciate the amendments she made to Bill C-31. Does she not feel, as a member of the finance committee, that it would have been preferable if changes to what is fundamentally a health and environment piece of legislation had gone to those committees to have adequate expert witnesses testify rather than to only the finance committee?”
