Official Hansard

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the thousands of Islanders who exercised their democratic right on Monday in our municipal elections. Strong communities start at the local level, and I want to acknowledge the dedication shown by everyone who stepped forward to put their name on the ballot and those who volunteered over the last few weeks. Above all, I want to congratulate the new and returning councillors and mayors across eastern P.E.I. Whether in our larger towns or our rural municipalities, local leadership handles the daily services that make Cardigan such an incredible place to live, to work and to raise a family. From maintaining vital infrastructure to supporting recreation and community life, municipal leaders play an essential role in the well-being of Islanders every day. I look forward to working collaboratively with all our new and returning municipal leaders in P.E.I.
