What Bill C-240 would do

The bill would allow courts to order offenders serving prison time to take part in educational, training or treatment programs. Facility heads would have to include these required programs in an offender's correctional plan, and parole boards would consider their progress when reviewing parole. The bill would also require judges to treat large-scale quantities as an aggravating factor when sentencing people convicted of trafficking fentanyl.
