Pauline Rochefort, Nipissing—Timiskaming
“Today is Franco-Ontarian Day. I want to celebrate French-speaking people in Ontario and thank my family for keeping our language and culture alive.”
“Mr. Speaker, on this September 25, the green and white flag flies proudly over Nipissing—Timiskaming, from Earlton to Temiskaming Shores, from North Bay to Astorville. Franco-Ontarian Day invites us to celebrate the contributions of francophones to our province. Today I would like to acknowledge my parents, who have kept the French language alive in our family. I am thinking of my 96-year old father, who is still with us and who taught me to love our language and our roots. Today, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren carry that heritage with pride. I wish my father, my family and all my constituents a happy Franco-Ontarian Day.”
